Boxing provides a full-body workout that engages your legs, arms, and core, all while delivering an intense cardio session. It’s as much a mental challenge as a physical one, requiring constant focus on defense, counter-punching, footwork, movement in the ring, and more. At Southside, we prioritize safety by emphasizing fundamental skills—starting with footwork, then defense, and finally, punch techniques. Only once a fighter masters these basics can they progress to advanced classes.
What are the benefits of Boxing?
What are the age requirements?
At Southside Boxing, we believe that boxing is a sport for all ages. We welcome everyone, from the young and enthusiastic to the experienced and seasoned. Whether you're a child stepping into the ring for the first time, a teen aiming to build skills and discipline, a professional seeking high-level training, or an older adult focused on fitness and health—Southside Boxing Gym has something for you.
No one is allowed to spar until they’ve mastered their footwork, defense, and punch technique. Only when a coach is confident in your self-defense abilities and solid fundamentals will you be permitted to spar. During sparring sessions, fighters wear mouthguards and headgear for added safety, and a trained coach monitors each session closely to ensure everyone’s well-being. Sparring is not a brawl—fighters focus on refining their techniques and fundamentals.
